Rep's marital status case set for Sept 21
2010/07/28
Syariah judge Mohd Roze Abdul Wahab fixed Sept 21 for mention to give the court time to personally hand over notice of an application by Sharifah to ascertain the validity of her marriage to Radzhi, 57, two years ago since the assemblyman failed to show up in court yesterday.
In her application filed last month, Sharifah named Radzhi and his first wife, Norma Md Zain, as first and second defendants respectively.
Sharifah, who was representing herself, had submitted the application to heed to the provision under the Kedah syariah law, which requires Muslim couples married abroad to register their marriage in the state.
Radzhi and Sharifah were married in Songkhla, Thailand, on Oct 23, 2008. They have a one-year-old daughter.
